Kendra Weilenman

Hello friends and new friends! My name is Kendra and I’m the official face and pen behind Aunt Smooch Books. My husband, Logan, is also a key element in the smooth running of this operation. He’s my web guy and overall art director. I’ve always loved writing and story-telling, but the idea for my first children’s book came while rocking my nephew, Luke, to sleep when he was a baby. I was born and raised in Indiana. I graduated with a degree in journalism from Ball State University in 2008 (Go Cards!). I married my high school best friend and prom date, Logan, in July 2010. We live just outside of Indianapolis with our dog Honey.

Who is Aunt Smooch?

Aunt Smooch is a modge podge of real-life characters and personalities I’ve pulled from. I do have an aunt who once fed a skunk at her back door for a while. In the beginning she thought it was a cat, I think, but just figured it was harmless and would appreciate some handouts. From loveable and sassy to quirky and strange I think everyone can find a little bit of their own relative in the character of Aunt Smooch.

My Support

First, I want to thank God! Where would I be without His love? I’ve been incredibly blessed to have such an encouraging team of family and friends. From my husband to my parents and brothers all the way to my extended family. If I had any haters along the way I didn’t notice because your words and attention drowned them out. Thanks for believing in me and in this project.
